Write-up: After the success of previous three editions of INDIAPACK, it has grown as a brand name in the Indian Packaging Industry (IIP) and also the world over. Recognising that new trends and developments are essential to the packaging industry’s bright future, the IIP, through INDIAPACK, seeks to provide a perfect platform to bring the packaging industry under one roof. Besides this, the industry also has the opportunity to connect at this highly specialised event where the issues of meeting the soaring demand for more sophisticated packaging together with the ever present need for increased productivity are addressed.

With support from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and many Trade Associations, from India and abroad including World Packaging Organisation and the Asian Packaging Federation, INDIAPACK is all set to continue the success story in the 2010 edition.

Indian Packaging industry with a growth of more than 15% p.a. accounts for USD 14 billion. This growth is expected to be doubled in next two years and figures indicate towards a change in the industrial and consumer set up. Packaging today, has grown in importance and is regarded as a vital marketing tool. It enhances the product value and helps expand the market within and outside country. The packaging industry can be characterised as a global and fast growing industry.

Rapid growth in markets like food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and textile has provided momentum for the need of packaging as all these sectors need specialised packaging. Availability of most of the raw materials, in abundance, that are required in for packaging such as paper, plastic, board, glass, metal adds to the further growth of industry.

International FoodTec India 2010, an International exhibition on food processing and packaging technology, equipments and supplies and the other concurrent events, a high level International Packaging Conference and the National Awards for Excellence in Packaging will also be organised by the IIP.

International FoodTec India has been benchmarked as the most important trade fair and unique communications platform for the entire range of technology suppliers to the Food Processing and Packaging Industry in India.

Built up on four pillars, processing and packaging, food ingredients, beverage technologies, cooling and refrigeration, the complete range of industry requirements will be displayed. The Incorporated events Dairy Universe and Sweet and Snack Factory were dedicated to the dairy industry and the sweet and snack processing industry respectively.

• Dairy Universe India
Dairy Universe India a specialised event for the dairy industry covering all aspects of dairy technology: from dairy processing technology and packaging to facilities and cooling. It represents a platform especially for this sector.

The fifth edition of Dairy Universe India will held concurrent to the Sweet and Snack Factory India and the International FoodTec India 2010. It covers the technological needs of the dairy industry in India. The range of offerings is adapted to the requirements of the Indian milk market.

• Asia Coat + Ink Show 2010
With improving standards of living and literacy, there are tremendous demands for packaging and print media. Since 2000, the sales of ink in India have grown by double-digits annually, surpassing $330 million. Globalisation in the printing ink industry is a trend ignited by the sheer number of multinational printing and publishing companies going global. With the growing industrialisation and urbanisation, the demand for printing jobs and thereby for the printing ink is increasing day by day creating bright scope for new investment in this market.

Last Event Highlights
INDIAPACK 2008, the International packaging exhibition held from 18-21 September, 2008 at Mumbai, created a global platform for the packaging industry to interact with visitors from India and all across the world. The exhibition included machinery manufacturers, material manufacturers, suppliers and providers of equipments, technology and other innovative concepts.


High level trade visitors along with international visitors, from 37 countries came to the event to find out about the product range offered by 156 companies from 20 countries with a gross area of around 8000 sq. mts with a wide range of innovative products, technologies and services on display.
