The demand for polymers in the first three quarters of 2009 (April – December) has shown a phenomenal growth. It is the highest ever growth witnessed by the plastic industry of India in the span of last 60 years.
This year the average growth rate has been about 20% and in many sectors, while in certain sectors the growth rate has exceeded 30 – 35 % as well.
In specific, the masterbatch industry, which is supplementary to the polymer industry, is also witnessing strong growth trends. The growth of the masterbatch industry is also around the 20% mark. The demand of the masterbatch industry is around 1,50,000 tonnes, which includes colour, additive, white, black and filler masterbatches.
