The hot runner system specialist Mastip Technology Ltd. has designed the SVG, Single valve gate nozzle system for direct gating large injection-moulded parts and handling fast flow rates. The system has been used successfully in moulding of fast-cycling of thin wall packaging and medical device components for which cosmetic gates have been critical.
A wide range of polyolefin and engineering resins can be processed with the SVG. Owing to the system’s single-melt channel design, very little stress is imparted to difficult materials when they are processed through the actuator, resulting in superior part quality. Parallel or taper gating and hardened–tip options enable this nozzle system to accommodate materials for a broad variety of applications. The system offers precise control at the gate in order to optimise moulding conditions. With its externally mounted pneumatic cylinder, the SVG actuator is well suited for clean room moulding in the medical technology and packaging industries. Adjustable valve–pin design provides setup flexibility.
The SVG actuator unit is connected to Mastip’s standard BX nozzle range. Installation is facilitated by a simple pocket detail in the mould plates, and a replaceable valve pin and seal and standard BX nozzle components make maintenance easy. Many nozzle sizes and tip styles are available, so the system can be configured for many different mould designs and applications.
